No Man's Sky was expected to be an Industry Changing game much like Hytale is now. ![]() There are several similarities that you can bridge between the two games. I often hear about No Man's Sky from people skeptical about Hytale's release and I must admit that out of all of the similarities and arguments, this one is most likely. Currently, No Man's Sky is the game it was supposed to be, but not after 4 years of Major Updates to get it there. No Man's Sky: Now, No Man's Sky was never in development limbo, but it did receive a lot of backlash for not including several key and hyped aspects of the game, including Multiplayer capabilities. I believe that they will hit their launch window as they know how much extra they want to add. Hytale is ready, the team is just adding extra. Hytale just wanted to add more as they realized that they actually had the money too. Hytale already had it's engine ready by 2019 and enough gameplay to create a game we would still enjoy. Why does this help Hytales case? Because the main reason behind Bannerlords long development phase was creating the custom engine and updating graphics as requirements expanded. Hytale was set to release back in 2019 when the game was first announced, but citing the surge of attention that surrounded the game the team pushed it back to a 2021 launch window. Bannerlord did not give a beta until April 2020!! 8 years of development and they released a buggy beta and an unpolished game! What would we do if Hytale follows a similar path! My argument against this is usually an argument many use to support claims of Hytale going into a development limbo and that is the Hytale team already has pushed a release date back. Sound familiar? Even more so the team was going by a "It's ready when it's ready basis". After E3 the team posted regular updates, yet never a release date. At E3 gameplay was shown and the game look complete from what most people could tell. Bannerlord was announced as the sequel to Mount & Blade: Warband all the way back in 2012 by Talewolrds, the development team, although not going radio silent posted updated sparsely until 2016 when the game was featured at E3. Mount & Blade: Bannerlord: I have to admit that I have yet to hear someone make this comparison to Hytale, but I still want to point it out because I feel like Bannerlord is a game that Hytale closely resembles more than Cubeworld when it comes to the development team. Thankfully Hytale's team is larger than Cubeworld and they have yet to go radio silent, often posting several minor updates a month and major ones around every month! Second of all the team went radio silent, often 5 months or more would go by before receiving a minor update about planned features. So what happened? First of all, Cubeworld had a incredibly small team working on it, mainly Wolfram himself and his Wife. 30th 2019 (after Hytale announcment!) as a game that didn't deliver on expectations of the fans. Many thought that it was an abandoned project until it was finally released Sept. After several setbacks however, the creator of Cubeworld, Wolfram von Funck stopped posting progress updates and news about the game was sparse to find. A huge community gathered around waiting for the game that looked amazing and fantastic. ![]() In the same genera as Hytale and Minecraft, Cubeword started development in 2011 and saw an Alpha release in 2013. Often a game that looks promising with trailers, active dev's and even gameplay disappear for years, sometimes never to be seen again.Ĭubeworld: Obviously the most cited example is Cubeworld. Cost's for producing games is rising and so is development time. Games that never come out: Development limbo is sadly something that we see more and more as the industry tries to become better and better. Here is my argument that Hytale is on track for a release and not development Limbo. It's almost always just because people are tired of waiting 2 years, but they often site several similar (or not similar) games and sources. I hear a lot from people saying that Hytale won't ever come out.
